Every payout figure below is measured at the normal rate — during the window the same runs pay double, so the short Shift 1 loop and the Journal bounties listed here are what you want to repeat. The developers have not said whether the multiplier stacks with class payout bonuses, so treat these tables as your base rate rather than the weekend rate.

The fastest mathematical coin farming method involves running Shift 1 repeatedly rather than struggling through longer late shifts:
- Select Shift 1 in solo or 2-player co-op mode.

4. Is the Speedrun Loop Actually Worth It?
Farming Shift 1 is genuinely the fastest coins-per-hour method in the game, and it is worth being honest about what it does and does not buy you.
What it does buy is currency, faster than anything else. The loop also feeds the cumulative Journal milestones, since those count patients treated across every shift — so a high-volume run of short shifts moves you toward the 100, 250, and 500 patient bonuses at the same time as it earns spendable coins. That makes it efficient for two goals at once.
What it does not buy is practice. Shift 1 contains very few anomalies, so a player who farms it for ten hours becomes fast at Shift 1 rather than good at the game. If your goal is seeing the later content, the farming loop is actively delaying the thing you want — the shifts that introduce anomalies and events are where the game actually gets interesting.
5. What to Spend Coins On First
Coins only matter once they are spent, and the gap between the cheapest useful class and the most expensive one is enormous. Spending in the wrong order means playing dozens of extra shifts to reach the same place.

6. Potion-Powered Farming (Second Floor)
Since the Second Floor update the Lab potions have become the fastest way to raise coins per shift — but only if you aim them at the payout formula. Check-ins are the top payer, so every useful potion speeds patients through, screens anomalies for free, or prevents a death (the one event that pays negative).
GAT — the fire potion (free anomaly scanner)
Healthy animals pass out the instant they touch the flames, while mimics walk straight through untouched — so any guest that does not drop is fake. Throwing it across the reception doorway also knocks ordinary visitors out and converts them into full patients, which pay the patient rate instead of the visitor rate.
Maple syrup + clean DNA (thrown bomb)
Mixing maple syrup with DNA from a patient carrying zero infection produces a throwable explosive rather than a serum. It detonates like a gunshot and knocks everything in the radius flat, so it doubles as a shield that stops a chasing mimic from reaching — and killing — your patients, without spending weapon ammo.
CTT — NPC speed buff
Splashing patients and visitors makes them sprint, so the reception line clears faster and beds free up sooner. Nothing raises check-ins per shift more cheaply, because the slowest part of a run is NPC walking time.
TTT — forced reveal
Forces an anomaly to drop its disguise immediately. Unlike the scanner it also wakes the mimic up aggressive, so keep a weapon or a bomb ready — but revealing it early means it never reaches a patient and never costs you the death penalty.
GTG — ghost serum
Turns you into a ghost that phases through the reception glass and patient-room doors. It removes every door handle and gate animation from your route, which is where most of the lost seconds in a busy shift go.
Stacking green speed buff
Green serums stack and persist for the rest of the run. Drinking a batch instead of one bottle lifts your movement speed far above normal, which simply means more patients serviced before the shift timer runs out.
