Complete Shift Loop

  1. 1Pre-Shift Prep: Buy items from the shop. Prioritize coffee, medkit, and flashlight.
  2. 2Patient Check-In: Go to the front desk. Perform the three-layer check on every patient.
  3. 3Escort & Treat: Guide cleared patients to exam rooms. Use the correct treatment item.
  4. 4Monitor & Respond: Watch for anomaly events. Check CCTV, listen for audio cues, respond to emergencies.
  5. 5Survive: Keep your sanity above zero. Manage multiple patients and threats simultaneously.
  6. 6Shift End: Collect your payout. Buy upgrades, save for classes, prepare for the next shift.

Day-by-Day Guide -- Shifts 1-10+

Shifts 1-3: Learning the Ropes

Your first three shifts are about learning the basics. Focus on the check-in process and patient treatment.

  • Stick with the Intern class (it is free).
  • Buy coffee and a medkit before each shift.
  • Practice the three-layer check on every patient.
  • Do not be afraid to close shutters -- better safe than sorry.
  • Save all your earnings. You need 20 Animal Coins.

Shifts 4-6: Building Up

By now you should have bought the Nurse class. Your focus shifts to efficiency and earning.

  • Buy Nurse (20 Animal Coins) as soon as possible.
  • Start using the Scanner and Flashlight regularly.
  • Learn to identify anomaly types from audio and visual cues.
  • Coordinate with teammates if playing co-op.
  • Save toward Doctor (900 Animal Coins) or Surgeon (2,500).

Shifts 7-10: Mid-Game Mastery

You should have a solid class and know the hospital well. Now it is about efficiency.

  • Aim for Surgeon (2,500 Animal Coins) or Doctor (900) as your main class.
  • Learn to multitask -- check in patients while monitoring CCTV.
  • Buy weapons (Gun or X-Taser) for dealing with threats.
  • Save money for future class upgrades.

Shifts 10+: Endgame

The endgame pushes your skills to the limit. Anomalies become more frequent and dangerous.

  • You should have Surgeon or Head Nurse at max level by now.
  • Team coordination is critical -- divide roles clearly.
  • Use cameras and scanners to maintain map awareness at all times.
  • Prioritize patient treatment over exploration during active shifts.
  • Prepare for the ending sequence (story completion).

Patient Treatment Flow

  1. 1Patient arrives at front desk. Perform all three checks.
  2. 2If patient passes: open shutters and escort them inside.
  3. 3If patient fails: close shutters immediately. Report the anomaly.
  4. 4Guide the patient to an empty exam room. Check the room for Bed Monsters first.
  5. 5Use the correct treatment item (check the patient chart).
  6. 6After treatment, the patient leaves. Clean the room for the next patient.
  7. 7Repeat. Speed improves with practice.

Anomaly Response Protocol

  1. 1Do Not Panic: Most anomalies can be handled calmly.
  2. 2Identify: Use your scanner and camera to determine the anomaly type.
  3. 3Contain: Close doors, shutters, and limit the anomaly's line of sight.
  4. 4Counter: Use the correct tool (weapon for Skinwalkers, maple syrup for Bed Monsters, etc.).
  5. 5Report: Alert teammates via voice or text chat about the anomaly's location.
  6. 6Recover: Drink coffee to restore any lost sanity. Return to patient treatment.

Endgame & Ending

Animal Hospital has a story conclusion that triggers after reaching a certain shift threshold and completing specific objectives. The ending involves Dr. Harlow revealing the truth about the hospital and the anomalies.

  • Complete shifts consistently. The story advances every few shifts.
  • Pay attention to NPC dialogues -- especially Barney and Dr. Harlow.
  • Explore the hospital thoroughly between shifts for story items.
  • The final shift features an intense anomaly gauntlet. Prepare accordingly.

Solo vs Co-op Tips

Solo Play

  • Choose Surgeon or Secret Agent class.
  • Prioritize weapons -- you have no backup against threats.
  • Use scanners and cameras to compensate for lack of eyes.
  • Take fewer patients at once. Quality over quantity.
  • Keep coffee in your inventory at all times.

Co-op Play

  • Divide roles: front desk, treatment, security, runner.
  • Head Nurse excels in team play -- keep everyone supplied.
  • Use voice chat to call out anomalies immediately.
  • Assign someone to monitor CCTV full-time.
  • Share resources. A team with one medkit each is safer.
