Animal Hospital Best Builds & Loadouts

Pick a kit that matches how you actually play

Every build below assumes these four: a weapon, a Sanity recovery, Maple Syrup, and an extinguisher.

Counter Table โ†’
๐Ÿ•ต๏ธ

Best All-Rounder (Solo)

Secret Agent
  • Gun + Scanner (starting loadout)
  • Coffee
  • Maple Syrup
  • Fire Extinguisher

The Scanner reveals what you face, the Gun deletes the dangerous ones, and Maple Syrup clears the Bed Monster without a fight. See the Secret Agent breakdown.

๐Ÿค

Best Team Support (Co-op)

Head Nurse
  • Medkits
  • Coffee / Chocolate Bar
  • Flashlight
  • Fire Extinguisher

Head Nurse is 75% cheaper than Secret Agent and built for co-op. Pair it with role-splitting: shutters + cameras, beds, and a combat float.

๐Ÿ”

Best Anomaly Hunter

Any (tool-focused)
  • Scanner
  • X-Taser
  • Maple Syrup
  • Camera access

Detection first: Scanner and CCTV confirm threats, the X-Taser stuns Ghost/Skinwalker/Stalker, and Maple Syrup dispatches the Bed Monster safely.

๐Ÿ”ฅ

Best Fire / Safety

Firefighter
  • Fire Extinguisher
  • Medkits (ointment)
  • Coffee
  • Flashlight

The Firefighter class doubles extinguisher speed and never overheats. Keep ointment ready for burned patients after the flames are out.

๐ŸŒฑ

Best Beginner

Intern / Doctor
  • X-Taser ($150)
  • Coffee
  • Maple Syrup
  • Medkits

Cheap and forgiving: the X-Taser needs no aim, Coffee fixes Sanity mistakes, and Maple Syrup handles the most common room hazard.

Best Solo Class

Picking a class when nobody is covering your beds

Solo Animal Hospital rewards a different set of stats than co-op does. With no second player watching the beds while you deal with an anomaly, self-sufficiency beats team utility: sanity recovery, carry capacity and a starting kit that already holds a detection tool matter far more than a buff that only pays off in a four-player lobby.

ClassCostWhy it works soloThe catch
Secret Agent320 RobuxStarts with a Gun and a Scanner, so the two most expensive solo jobs are already covered at shift one.Robux-only since the June 19-22 class update, so it is the one pick you cannot save Animal Coins for.
Doctor900 Animal CoinsListed for beginner and solo play, and the perk returns sanity as you heal, which is the exact loop a solo shift repeats. No detection tool in the starting kit, so budget for a Scanner.
Surgeon2,500 Animal CoinsTier S and the only class listed for solo, team and F2P at once: sanity back from healing plus a speed boost on top of it.The most expensive coin class in the shop, so it only pays off once you can string clean shifts together.
Nurse10 Animal CoinsThe cheapest real upgrade available: one extra inventory slot per level, and an extra tool in hand is worth more solo than any team buff.Capacity only, so bring your own Scanner or weapon.
Security1,250 Animal CoinsFrom level 2 it starts you with an X-Taser and a Deployable Camera, which is a stun and a detection tool in one kit.Priced like an expert pick, and the camera only earns its slot once you know the map.
Head Nurse80 RobuxTier S support class with more inventory and bonus sanity, so it is the strongest carry-more-panic-less option.Built for co-op: solo you are paying Robux for slots and sanity that Nurse plus coffee already gives you.
InternFreeNothing to lose: run shifts on it to learn the room loop and bank coins for a real class.Tier D, with no detection, no weapon and only a small starting sanity cushion.

If you want the decision in one line: take Secret Agent when Robux is not a constraint, Doctor when you are paying in Animal Coins, and Nurse while you are still saving up, because ten coins for an extra inventory slot is the cheapest real upgrade in the shop.

The costs and perks above are the values this site tracks class by class in the Classes guide, and the shop has been rebalanced more than once: the June update moved Secret Agent to Robux-only and the September X2 Coins window added Scientist and Barista. Prices drift, so confirm them in the live Class Shop before you commit coins.

๐Ÿงญ

Co-op Role Splitting

The team build works best with assigned jobs.

  • Shutters + Cameras: one player keeps eyes on CCTV and closes shutters on anomalies.
  • Bed Runners: two fast players handle patient timers.
  • Combat Float: one player guards against Stalker and Slime spawns mid-shift.

Why Every Build Shares the Same Four Slots

The structure the game imposes

The five builds above look quite different from each other, but each one contains the same four functional slots. That is not a coincidence or a stylistic choice โ€” it is the structure the game imposes on every loadout.

SlotFilled byWhy it cannot be skipped
A weaponX-Taser or GunSome threats are removed by force and by nothing else
Sanity recoveryCoffee or ChocolateSanity drains continuously, so it needs a continuous answer
Bed Monster answerMaple SyrupA specific item is the only counter โ€” there is no alternative
Fire answerFire ExtinguisherFire is the one hazard that can end a run outright

Everything outside those four slots is preference. What actually varies between the five loadouts is which class fills the weapon slot and how much you paid to fill it โ€” not whether the slot gets filled at all. That is why swapping a build is usually a question of budget rather than playstyle.

๐Ÿšซ

Builds That Look Good but Are Not

Four ways a loadout fails

  • All combat, no utility. You cannot fight what you have not identified, so a kit with two weapons and no detection loses to anomalies you never confirmed.
  • No fire answer. The easiest slot to leave out and the most expensive one to skip โ€” a room fire has no improvised solution, and no other item in the kit touches it.
  • Duplicating a counter. Two weapons and no Maple Syrup leaves the Bed Monster entirely unaddressed, because the syrup slot is the one with no substitute.
  • Buying the premium slot first. Spending everything on the most expensive class leaves nothing for the four slots themselves, which is how a strong class ends up carrying an empty inventory.

The pattern behind all four is filling slots that feel exciting instead of slots that have no alternative. The counter table is the quickest way to check which of your slots genuinely has no substitute.

Best Builds FAQ

What is the best all-rounder build in Animal Hospital?

For solo play the Secret Agent loadout (Gun + Scanner) with Coffee, Maple Syrup, and a Fire Extinguisher covers nearly every threat. The Scanner reveals anomalies, the Gun deletes the dangerous ones, and Maple Syrup handles the Bed Monster.

What is the best co-op / team build?

Run a Head Nurse for cheap team support with Medkits, Coffee or a Chocolate Bar, a Flashlight, and a Fire Extinguisher. Split roles โ€” one player on shutters and cameras, two on beds, one combat float โ€” so no single threat overwhelms the team.

What is the best beginner build?

Start with an X-Taser ($150, reusable, no aim), Coffee for Sanity, Maple Syrup for the Bed Monster, and a few Medkits. It is cheap, forgiving, and teaches the counter system before you invest in a Gun.

Should I always carry both a Gun and an X-Taser?

If you can afford it, yes. The X-Taser handles everyday stuns cheaply, while the Gun permanently removes Taser-immune threats like the Black Bunny and Masked Figure. Carrying both covers every weapon matchup.

What is the best solo class in Animal Hospital?

Secret Agent is the strongest solo pick because it starts with a Gun and a Scanner, which covers detection and combat without spending coins on tools. If you only play for Animal Coins, Doctor is the practical solo class: it is cheaper at 900 Animal Coins and its perk returns sanity while you heal patients, which is the loop a solo shift repeats.

Is Doctor or Surgeon the better solo class?

Doctor is the affordable solo start at 900 Animal Coins and Surgeon is the upgrade at 2,500. Surgeon is the only class the shop data lists for Solo, Team and F2P at once, and its perk adds a speed boost on top of the sanity you get back from healing patients. If you are still saving, run Doctor and treat Surgeon as the goal.

Can you play Animal Hospital solo?

Yes, and most difficulty questions come from solo runs rather than team ones. The two solo problems are triage and sanity: nobody covers a patient timer while you deal with an anomaly, so reject patients deliberately, keep coffee in a quick slot, and pick a class that returns capacity or sanity instead of a buff that only pays off in a full lobby.

Watch: should you buy the two new classes?

The NEW Barista Class is SECRETLY OVERPOWERED - Roblox Animal Hospital Update

BlaxieBLOX

  • Shop prices: the update added two classes, Scientist at a little over 1,000 Animal Coins and Barista at 2,000 Animal Coins.
  • Barista levels: level 1 brews custom drinks by holding an ingredient while using the coffee machine, level 2 lets you hand coffee to teammates, level 3 cuts the machine cooldown by 15%.
  • Scientist levels: the review describes brewed speed potions for crossing hallways and ghost potions that skip dangerous sections, which is why the creator questions whether the Scientist price is justified when the Barista is the class that gets the verdict.
  • Verdict: the video concludes that the Barista is the stronger buy of the two - the level 2 perk is what it calls the thing that pushes the class into overpowered territory - while the Scientist is the one whose price gets questioned.
